Activity around choosing the new president for the BJP has started gathering speed. From November 19-21, top leaders of Sangh are going to collect in Delhi in Jhandewalan. These will include those such as Bhaiaji Joshi, Suresh Soni and Madandas Devi who are going to take part in the meeting. On changing Gadkari as the president for the party, the Sangh’s logic is that the BJP will not change its chairman due to some conspiracy or against pressure from a section of the English media. Which means Gadkari will complete his tenure as the party president until December. Sangh’s logic is that even the Congress has not done anything about removing Salman Khurshid or Chidambaram; in fact Khurshid actually got a promotion of sorts. Sangh also believes that this is not an attack on Gadkari. Nourished and nurtured by the Congress, a section of the media is trying to tarnish the image of the Sangh and BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Pranab da may have bid adieu to active politics, but his children’s political ambitions know no bounds. His son Abhijeet has proved his political prowess as an Assembly member and now as a member of Parliament after winning a seat from Jangipur constituency. But he had to work really hard for this seat from Jangipur and he just about managed to get the seat with a win of barely 2,500 votes more than his opponent. Where Pranab da is concerned, he considers his daughter to be more political than his son but he had to give way to his son’s political ambition. Now his daughter wants to contest the elections from the Nalhati constituency, which has been left vacant by his brother. So alluding to political rules, Pranab da said that two members of the same family should not be in politics.

Like it is being speculated, there are chances that the NDA may come to power at the Centre after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It is also being speculated that if it forms the government at the Centre, regional heavyweights such as Prakash Singh Badal, Nitish Kumar, Raman Singh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan will be given a lot of importance. Seeing this, Sukhbir Singh Badal has stepped on the accelerator when it comes to development projects in Punjab. Two big problems of electricity and unemployment are staring the state in the face at present. In such a scenario, whenever Sukhbir comes to meet his family in Delhi during weekends, he is trying to touch-base with prominent industrialists such as Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Atul Punj, Gautam Thapar, Manoj Gaur, Malvinder Singh and so on. Sukhbir is requesting these industrialists to start new projects in the state and is promising all the help on behalf of the state government.

In its entire history, the BJP may just get a female party president for the first time. If sources are to be believed, the three names that are being considered for the post include Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Goa’s chief minister Manohar Panicker. Manohar Panicker’s name has been dismissed only because he comes from a small constituency like Goa and it may take time to establish himself on a national level. This becomes crucial since the next Lok Sabha elections will be held under a new party president. So, considering Sushma Swaraj’s mass appeal with the middle class, the Sangh seems to have decided that it doesn’t have a better option than Swaraj. If Sushma Swaraj becomes the party president, Rajnath Singh’s name as Opposition party leader will come up.

The Manmohan Singh Cabinet expansion that happened today was supposed to take place on October 26 after Dusshera. The formal permission from the President had also been sought for the same. But keeping in mind the visit by the King of Spain, this reshuffle was postponed for October 28. And because the President’s guards were in service to the Spanish king, they didn’t get time to either change their clothes or rest a bit. And whenever new ministers take oath at Ashok Hall, these same guards have the responsibility to take the guest to Ashok Hall, Thus, the postponement he Cabinet expansion was only because of the President’s guards.

The Congress is in a fix on who is supplying the documents about Mr Son-in-law to Arvind Kejriwal, apart from the BJP. Most of the documents that have come to light are about the purchase and sale of land in Haryana and Rajasthan – where the Congress is in power. Only the Congress chief knows which deal was done and how. Is it is coincidence that the matter has come to light when talks of shifting the current chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot were happening? Also, Sonia was said to be upset about the law and order situation in Haryana and a programme was being chalked out for a tour of the state because of the recent rise of rape incidents? Can this lead one to believe that a Vibhishan is within the Congress somewhere?

When a certain “Sabse Tez” news channel was showing airing the news about the alleged embezzlement of funds by Salman Khurshid and his wife Louis, Salman was in London and enjoying a play called “Sons of Babar”, which was put together by the famous London-based Royal Overseas League Park Place”, which was sponsored by Essar of the unpopular 2G scam. Hinduja and Naresh Goyal were trying to outdo each other to be hospitable to Salman. After the play, Salman retreated to Oxford University with his entourage. The play was about the fall of the Mughal Sultanate through Bahadurshah Zafar. And now it is the turn of the fall of Manmohan Sultanate in Delhi. Can Salman be its protagonist?

However, the biggest problem is to find an office space for these advisors. The minute the directive was passed about the council, Mukul Roy grabbed the office of irrigation ministry, which had just been vacated by Congress minister Manas Bhunia. The officers in Bengal are in a fix as to where these advisors should be accommodated. On the other hand, ministers of the state government are also perturbed about their reduced power because now, before getting a go-ahead from the chief minister on any decision, they will now have to get the signature of their designated advisor. On the other hand, these advisors can give a department any order without consulting the relevant minister.

The “M” factor may well have come to the rescue of the government but the reality is that the Opposition party BJP is also not in favour of playing a part in the Central government falling. The party has also kind of made up its mind that it will not boycott the upcoming session of the Parliament and will try to see that the session functions smoothly. The BJP knows that with time, differences between the public and the ruling government will increase. The party is already trying to maintain good relationships with other parties to find ways to annul the effects of top government leaders in the Parliament. The BJP also wants that the government should not last until the next Budget session of the Parliament.

Manmohan Singh has reformed his damage control team in the government. Despite oppositions, Ahmed Patel has been given the cap of the team captain to wear. Chidambaram has just joined the team in place of Pranab da. Shinde is also a part of the team but he doesn’t have much work to do. Pavan Bansal has two active members – Rajiv Shukla and Narayansamy – under him. Rajiv Shukla is the most active member of the team. When night falls, it is work time for the team. Team members can be seen knocking on the doors of other leaders at 10 pm and after.
